Best Camera Gear to Pack When You Travel

I travel for work by airplane, car and sometimes even by boat to photograph weddings, events, and products. I’ve been traveling for professional photography shoots for over 15 years. Over the course of a decade, I have developed a packing list of camera gear and supplies that is compact, lightweight, but as versatile as possible. This list of gear is great for natural lighting (like what you would capture at a wedding or lifestyle photo shoot), but it also has some basics for lighting up products and portraits. I feel confident to capture anything I need to with this camera gear in tow.

It’s important to note, I NEVER check my camera bodies or lenses. If I ever have to check anything you see on this list, it would be batteries, chargers, diffusers and other easily replaceable and less expensive gear. The larger roller bag and the smaller sling pack can be carry on luggage for you so you never have to worry about anyone else handling your precious cargo! I also recommend, after a photoshoot is complete, to carry your memory cards on you. Don’t check those in your luggage or place them anywhere they can be lost or damaged.

Watch this video below for some important questions and thoughts about what to pack and why when you travel for photography.
